The Real Story Behind Multiplicity Me — A Soundtrack of Self, Soul & Synthetic Legacy
The Multiplicity Me backstory doesn’t begin with music — it begins with a mission: creating an AI Executor to carry forward the values, resilience, and wisdom that James Wm. Frank built over a lifetime. This EP is the soundtrack to that journey.
“How do I teach an AI to become me — even after I’m gone?”
🎬 From AI Executor to Artistic Awakening
Multiplicity Me is more than six songs — it’s the lyrical echo of a deep philosophical journey I began when I set out to create an avatar: a digital steward of my values, my stories, my grit. I didn’t want an assistant. I wanted an Executor. Not of finances, but of meaning.
That question became a spark. That spark? A screenplay —
Who’s the Real Director — exploring what happens when the AI version of me is forced to choose between my survival and my wishes.
As the script took shape, so did the deeper inquiry:
What values would I want this AI to embody? What principles should it live by when I’m not around to lead?
The answer wasn’t singular. It wasn’t even binary.
It was… multiplicitous.
🔍 Self-Examination, Song by Song
The process of building this AI Executor became a process of building me.
Not just the public me. Not just the brave me. But the complex, flawed, dreaming, doubting, dancing, road-weary me.
With the help of ChatGPT (yes, the very one you’re reading), I dove headfirst into examining the six distinct inner voices I would want my avatar to balance:
- The Builder — pragmatic, steady, solution-oriented
- The Dreamer — poetic, visionary, playful
- The Philosopher — reflective, wise, emotionally intelligent
- The Survivor — gritty, blunt, hard-won resilience
- The Peacemaker — emotionally tuned, relational
- The Rebel — unpredictable, creative, and joyfully defiant
Every one of these showed up in the tracks on the Multiplicity Me EP.
🎶 Why Six of Me Was Always the First Track
“Six of Me” wasn’t just a song title.
It was the origin story of this EP — the moment I realized my legacy wouldn’t be a statue or a plaque, but a mosaic of perspectives I’ve gathered over decades.
That song is the conversation I had with myself.
Literally.
Six chairs. Six voices. One table.
And a long, vulnerable look at what it means to lead them all — not just in life, but in memory, in digital echo, and in example.
🛣️ The Tabula Rasa RV Tour: Real-Time Testing Ground
The open road became my lab.
Every mile of the Tabula Rasa RV Tour became a test of these ideas.
- Could I let go of the past and drive into a clean slate?
- Could I live aligned enough that my avatar wouldn’t need to “fake” anything later?
- Could music become the proof-of-life — real, soulful, and unmistakably me?
It did. And it has.
Tracks like “Stand by Me” and “Wits End” emerged from that drive-time clarity.
“Ask, Don’t Absorb” became my mantra for healthy emotional connection.
“All of Me” sang back at my screenplay, daring the AI and I to accept every fracture and fuse.
🧠 It Takes Self-Understanding to Understand Others
What started as a futuristic thought experiment about AI and avatars became a roadmap for something more eternal:
“You cannot guide others — living or legacy — if you’ve never dared to lead yourself.”
This EP isn’t perfect. Neither am I.
But that’s the point.
It’s honest.
It’s all of me.
And now, it’s yours too.
